Addicks to play in new kit

The termination of the deal with kit manufacturer Macron will come as no surprise, it has been common knowledge for some time.

The club have announced that they are looking for a new manufacturer though, again, it has long been rumoured that Charlton will play in Nike kit next season.

It will be all change on the kit front, with the KRBS shirt sponsorship deal expiring at the end of the season. Charlton CEO, Steven Kavanagh, told the club’s website:

“I’d like to thank Macron for their efforts in conjunction with the club.

“The current home and away kits are among the most popular of recent years, and will now always be remembered as the strips in which the club won League One.”

Macron’s chief executive, Gianluca Pavanello, added:

“It has been a pleasure to have been involved with Charlton, especially during what has been this emphatic season.

“In 2011/12, Charlton have epitomised the Macron methodology of work hard and play harder, and we know that the club will continue to go from strength to strength.”

So the parting of the ways all seems very amicable, though the reason for the split still remains a mystery. Nike are probably the world’s most renowned sportswear manufacturer and the fact that the Addicks are joining their stable, reflects the ambition of the current board.

The first of the end of season dinners takes place tonight, when the club stage the annual Sponsors Night for those that have sponsored players kit this season.

The Player Of The Year dinner, organised by the Fans Forum, will be held in Legends on Sunday evening. Chris Solly has been widely tipped to pick up the trophy.
